MARA Regional Commissioner (RC), Mr Magesa Mulongo, has directed Ward Executive Officers (WEO) and Village Executive Officers (VEO) to stay in their respective working stations.
Some of the ward and the village government officials are reportedly staying many kilometres away from their working stations, a trend that Mr Mulongo wants to end immediately. “VEOs and WEOs must stay at their working stations.
You are not flying doctors,” the RC warned when he was speaking to public servants and other stakeholders during his latest tour of Tarime District early this week. Mr Mulongo gave the order direct to ward and village officials in a packed meeting.
He gave them until Friday, this week, to compile with the order, warning that those who will fail may end up losing their jobs. He observed that some of the problems including insecurity issues are not well attended by the officials, citing the habit of staying away from their working stations as the major source.
He further urged VEOs and WEOs who have messed up somewhere and sought to be transferred to another working station to immediately go back and clear their records before facing the music.
Mr Mulongo further urged all village government leaders to ensure that bhang growing does not continue in the region.
